Loss of Use

This coverage can be endorsed to your mortality insurance will reimburse you for a portion of the animal’s value, in the event your horse sustains an accident, illness, or lameness, which renders the horse totally and permanently disabled, but does not require destruction for humane reasons. This coverage may only be selected in addition to the Major Medical endorsement.
There are two loss of use options are available.
The Full Loss of Use option provides for loss due to illness or injury that results in the animal being totally and permanently unable to perform its insured use. Horses 2 to 12 years are eligible for this coverage. Full X-ray report, soundness exam and drug screen are required for approval at the inception of this endorsement.
The External Injury Loss of Use option provides for loss due to the animal becoming totally and permanently unable to perform its insured use due to a visible, external, accidental or violent means of injury. Horses 2 to 17 years of age are eligible for this coverage. This endorsement is dependent on the animal’s medical history.
